Giorgio Galotti's Turin gallery GRGLT goes nomadic from autumn 2019

institutional · 2026-05-04

Giorgio Galotti, founder of Turin-based gallery GRGLT, announced that from autumn 2019 the gallery will abandon its fixed space and adopt a nomadic model. The decision stems from the belief that static spaces have become anachronistic, burdened by fixed costs and repetitive programming. GRGLT, established in 2015, has worked with artists including Ettore Favini, Thomas Kratz, Andrea Magnani, and Anders Holen. Under the new model, each exhibition will be site-specific, tailored to both the artist and the chosen location. Galotti cites inspirations like DAMA and Hypermaremma, which use natural or historical sites. Upcoming projects include a film by Rachel Monosov in a remote Russian cinema and a bourgeois apartment for Thomas Kratz's salon-style paintings. The original space on Via Beinasco will be renovated and returned to the market, though the window display Alley will remain active. The first nomadic exhibition will be a solo show by Gabriele Silli, opening in October 2019 and running through art week, marking the final show at the original location.
