Giorgio Ferrero performs film score in anechoic chamber at University of Ferrara
Composer and filmmaker Giorgio Ferrero performed the soundtrack of his award-winning film "Beautiful Things" inside the disorienting anechoic chamber at the University of Ferrara. The performance marked the vinyl release of the score as part of a limited-edition art-book. Ferrero was joined by co-composer Rodolfo Mongitore and cellist Luisella Ghirello, a professor at the Ferrara Conservatory who also acted in the film. The third act of the film, titled "Metro," was shot inside the same chamber by Ferrero and cinematographer Federico Biasin. To accommodate limited capacity, the performance was repeated three times in one day, allowing more attendees to experience the chamber's hypnotic disorientation. The live set featured real-time sampling of the main theme, with Ferrero and Mongitore playing custom-made lithophones and percussion instruments built in the United States for the film's music.
