Giorgio de Chirico's 'Sogno e realtà' Opens at Caixaforum Madrid

The exhibition 'Sogno e realtà. Il mondo di Giorgio de Chirico' has arrived at Caixaforum Madrid after its Barcelona run, organized by La Caixa banking group in collaboration with the Fondazione Isa e Giorgio de Chirico. Curated by Mariastella Margozzi and Katherine Robinson, it features around 140 works, mostly oils from the Roman foundation, plus sculptures, watercolors, and drawings. Loans come from the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna di Roma (ten paintings), the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, and private collections. The architectural design by Herzog & De Meuron pays homage to de Chirico's metaphysical piazzas and interiors. The show is divided into six thematic sections: portrait and self-portrait, metaphysical interiors, Italian piazzas and mannequins, mysterious baths, classical world and gladiators, and history and nature. A highlight is the video interview by Franco Simongini from the 1970s, showing de Chirico in Greece and Venice. The exhibition runs until February 18, 2018.
