Giorgio Armani Archive Exhibition Opens at CSAC in Parma
The Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione (CSAC) at the Abbazia di Valserena in Parma has opened 'Giorgio Armani Archivio CSAC', an exhibition dedicated to the late fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who died on September 4, 2025. The show draws from the Fondo Giorgio Armani, a donation of over 8,000 items made by the designer in the 1980s, including more than 100 signed works. The archive spans the years 1975 to 1980, a period when Armani experimented with graphic language and redefined fashion codes. The exhibition features drawings, sketches, fabric samples, and a press archive, highlighting key moments such as Diane Keaton wearing an Armani suit to the 1978 Oscars and Richard Gere's wardrobe in 'American Gigolò' (1980). Armani's deconstructed jacket, which eliminated rigid shoulder pads, is presented as a gender-neutral garment that symbolized emancipated femininity. The exhibition runs until February 8, 2026.
