Giorgia Severi Residency at Monte Urano Merges Art and Territory
Between October 16 and 29, 2017, Giorgia Severi held a residency called 'Terrarum' in Monte Urano, Italy, under the FabIcaro – Arte, Musica e Tecnologia project. This initiative, which started in February 2016 at the Centro Giovanile Icaro, focuses on engaging young people through workshops that blend art and tech. Curated by Casa Sponge, the residency invited local youth and students to explore the Marche region, using symbols, heraldry, and animals. They turned discarded wooden shoe lasts from nearby factories into painted stories that reflect their heritage. Severi also created a unique shoe last using traditional methods for a site-specific installation in the historic center of Monte Urano. The project is funded by the Lab.Accoglienza 2^ call, with support from the Marche Region and the National Youth and Civil Service Department. The Municipality of Monte Urano is the main partner, working alongside various collaborators.
