Gioberto Noro's 'Aperture' at Galleria Alberto Peola, Turin

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The artistic duo Gioberto Noro (Sergio Gioberto, 1952; Marilena Noro, 1961) explores the dialectics of light and shadow, chaos and order through photography at their exhibition 'Aperture' in Turin. Their work transforms the camera from a simple machine into a tool for investigating reality and the self, reuniting the 'divided self' into a cosmic whole visible in the captured image. The exhibition features the diptych 'Aperture', which juxtaposes the front and back of a woodland landscape to highlight fleeting luminous and shadowy phenomena. The 'Mappe' series assembles at least five shots to create a 1:1 scale representation of a forest portion, reproducing the interpenetration of light and shadow. In the 'White rooms' series, artificial construction becomes an emblem of this cognitive and compositional process, where the combined use of emptiness and light renders the invisible visible. Curated by Valeria Ceregini, the exhibition runs until January 28, 2017 at Galleria Alberto Peola, Via della Rocca 29, Turin.
