Gino De Dominicis Remembered 20 Years After Death with Exhibitions in Ancona, Milan, Rome

On the 20th anniversary of Gino De Dominicis's death (Ancona, April 1, 1947 – Rome, November 29, 1998), his hometown Ancona announces two major projects for spring 2019. Meanwhile, Gallerie Gli eroici furori in Milan and Pio Monti in Rome celebrate him with a sound installation. A key work, Calamita Cosmica (1988), is revisited in large-format photos by Franco Cecchini, on view until January 6, 2019 at CIAC Centro Italiano Arte Contemporanea in Foligno, where the original sculpture is housed in the former Chiesa della SS. Trinità in Annunziata. Other iconic works include Lo Zodiaco (1970), a tableau vivant with twelve zodiac signs represented by artifacts, humans, and live animals, shown at Galleria L'Attico di Fabio Sargentini; a sealed chest given to Fabiana Sargentini in March 1970, to be opened only after 23 years; Mozzarella in Carrozza (1970); and Asta in equilibrio (1971), exhibited by Pio Monti, who in 2015 with Simone Carella named the palazzo at via San Pantaleo 66 in Rome after the artist.
