Ginevra Elkann's debut film 'Magari' streams on RaiPlay after lockdown delays
Ginevra Elkann's first feature film, 'Magari,' premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in August 2019 and was later shown at the Torino Film Festival. It was supposed to hit theaters on March 26, 2020, but due to COVID-19 lockdowns, the release was postponed. Instead, it became available on RaiPlay on May 21, 2020, as part of Rai Cinema's #ilcinemanonsiferma initiative. Co-written with Chiara Barzini, the movie follows three siblings—Alma, Jean, and Sebastiano—on a trip from Paris to Rome to visit their father during Christmas. The cast includes Alba Rohrwacher and Riccardo Scamarcio. Elkann, who leads the Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin, drew visual inspiration from Luigi Ghirri's polaroid photos. She had previously directed a short film in 2005 and worked on 'Dallas Buyers Club.'
