Gina Folly's 'I want you to live in my city' at ERMES-ERMES Vienna

Swiss artist Gina Folly (born 1983, Zurich) presents the exhibition 'I want you to live in my city' at ERMES-ERMES in Vienna, running until May 3, 2017. The venue is a former stable on two floors, not a typical white cube. The installation comprises five boxes simulating basic environments, each with a corresponding key and keychain. The boxes include a floor, two side walls, a ceiling, a lock, and an air filter, serving as models and metaphors for common living spaces. The keys hang on hooks or rest on shelves, with keychains as quirky found objects. Inside each box, mini video projectors loop intimate, everyday scenes: light shimmering on a Marseille window half-covered by a gently swaying curtain; two cats cuddling evoking domestic hearth; a Buddha made of lights observing passersby from a Roman building doorway. These glimpses offer a personal poetics of daily life experienced by the artist during her residencies, presented as memory boxes.
