Gillo Dorfles designs wine labels for Aglianico at Milano Food&Wine
At 103 years old, Gillo Dorfles has designed six labels for an Aglianico wine produced by Azienda Agricola San Domenico near Paestum. The wine, named Omaggio a Gillo Dorfles, features pastel abstract designs reminiscent of Mirò. Dorfles has authorized future replicas with color variations. The discovery was made at Milano Food&Wine, a spin-off of the Merano Wine Festival, where about seventy producers from Italy, France, and Slovenia participated. Also present were Cantine Leonardo Da Vinci with Chianti and Brunello labels referencing the artist. The collaboration adds to the long tradition of art and wine marketing, exemplified by Frescobaldi's recent prize with labels by Ozzola, Martino, and Sighicelli, and Château Mouton Rothschild's historic labels by Mirò, Picasso, Dalí, Chagall, Warhol, and Jeff Koons.
