Giant Triple Mushroom by Carsten Höller Lands at Place Vendôme for Art Basel Paris 2024
For Art Basel Paris 2024 (October 18–20 at the Grand Palais), Gagosian will unveil Carsten Höller's monumental sculpture Giant Triple Mushroom at Place Vendôme on October 15, on view through November 24. The three-meter-tall work combines three wild mushroom species: the red-capped Amanita muscaria (toxic and psychoactive), the net-skirted Phallus indusiatus, and the gilled Tricholoma columbetta. Höller, who holds a PhD in agricultural sciences, explores the cultural, historical, and hallucinogenic properties of fungi. Additionally, from October 14–20, a pop-up of his Stockholm restaurant Brutalisten will operate at a Parisian train station, created with French culinary collective We Are Ona and chefs Coen Dieleman and Stefan Eriksson, offering a six-course lunch and eight-course dinner with drinks curated by Luca Pronzato.
