Gianni Pettena and Marco Pace Dual Exhibition at Galleria Bonelli, Milan

Galleria Giovanni Bonelli in Milan hosts two concurrent solo shows: Gianni Pettena's 'About non Conscious Architecture' and Marco Pace's 'Non finirò stanziale'. Pettena's exhibition, curated by Marco Scotini, features the monumental cardboard sculpture 'CARABINIERI' (1968), a performative barrier first shown in 1968, alongside models and documentation of projects from 1968 to the late 1970s, including Clay House (1971), Ice I (1971), Ice II (1972), Red Line (1972), Tumbleweeds catcher (1972), Marea (1974), and Applausi (1968). The show traces Pettena's American years, emphasizing mimesis with landscape and opposition to architectural dogma, blending Land Art and disobedience, referencing Smithson and Kaprow. Also on view is documentation of 'Campo Urbano' (1969) in Como's Piazza del Duomo, where Pettena hung clotheslines to critique urban officialdom and highlight social inequality, alongside works by Giuseppe Chiari, Enrico Baj, Bruno Munari, and Paolo Scheggi. Upstairs, Marco Pace's 'Non finirò stanziale' presents paintings, drawings, photographs, and masks/sculptures made of apparent raw earth, exploring nomadic, itinerant, and subversive landscapes.
