Gianni Moretti's 'Anna Monument to Attention' for Sant'Anna di Stazzema

In Sant'Anna di Stazzema, Italy, Gianni Moretti, an artist from Perugia born in 1978, unveiled 'Anna – Monument to Attention' to pay tribute to Anna Pardini, the youngest victim of the Nazi-fascist massacre on August 12, 1944, who was just 20 days old. This initiative, supported by MiBACT's 2016 Piano per l'Arte Contemporanea and curated by Luigi Ficacci, incorporates around 26,500 gold-plated reflective steel pieces, symbolizing the days Anna was denied, with an additional 365 added each year. Moretti partnered with Giovanardi s.p.a. to utilize eco-friendly materials. The project engages local communities to promote awareness and social unity. Previously, Moretti created 'La Bell'ra' (2013) in Milan, honoring a victim of femicide.
