Gianni Leone's Photography Exhibition at MUST Lecce

The MUST museum in Lecce is hosting a retrospective of Gianni Leone (b. 1939, Bari), featuring around sixty works that span his career. The exhibition, spread across the ground and first floors, highlights Leone's analytical, transversal, and introspective gaze. His photography, which engages in a deep dialogue with that of his friend and colleague Luigi Ghirri, is part of a documentary and landscape investigation that redefined the language of the image. Together with Ghirri and other authors of the Italian landscape photography school, Leone pioneered a style that has influenced generations since the 1980s. The works trace an evolution from realistic depictions of cities, towns, and the sea to geometric rarefaction, fragmentation, and formal abstraction.
