Gianni D'Urso installs star-shaped dream sculpture in Lecce industrial zone

From September 24 to 29, 2018, the third edition of Industrial Therapy, an artistic residency coordinated by the cultural association FAC (Caterina Quarta, Alice Caracciolo, and Giuseppe Amedeo Arnesano), took place in Lecce's industrial zone. During the residency, Apulian artist Gianni D'Urso, based in Bologna, created a site-specific work titled "Realizza i tuoi sogni" (Make Your Dreams Come True). The installation is located in the circle of the third roundabout at kilometer 1.6 of the city's industrial area. It is part of a broader urban regeneration plan aimed at fostering cultural growth in the territory. D'Urso explained that the work stems from an appropriation of forms belonging to the industrial zone, focusing on a commercial slogan used for advertising: "Realizziamo i vostri sogni" (We make your dreams come true). Combining material and advertising components, he initiated a reflection on the idea of an imaginary construction site shaped like a star, a symbol with positive collective value associated with dreams.
