Gianni Berengo Gardin's Venice Film Streams Free for One Night

The documentary 'Tale of Two Cities,' directed by American art historian Donna Serbe-Davis, explores Venice's history, beauty, and fragility through the lens of photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin. The film offers an intimate view of the lagoon city, which has been transformed by uncontrolled mass tourism. Berengo Gardin, a Venetian native, reflects on his sixty-year career with striking images, including those documenting cruise ships in the lagoon and the threat they pose to the city's architectural heritage. The film helped galvanize a civil movement opposing unsustainable commercial policies. It will stream online on Thursday, November 19, from 6:30 PM to midnight on Streen.org, thanks to an initiative by CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia (which recently held the exhibition 'Gianni Berengo Gardin e la Olivetti,' closed early due to COVID-19) in collaboration with the Cinemambiente Festival.
