Gianmarco Vettori on Acting, Stunts, and Upcoming Roles in Shoshana and M: Il Figlio del Secolo

Italian actor Gianmarco Vettori (born 1994 in Nettuno) gained national visibility through the Netflix series Briganti (2024). He performs his own stunts, drawing on a background that includes fire-eating and stilt-walking, skills he developed at the Centro Artistico Il Girasole in Nettuno and later as a performer with Circo Nero across Italy and Europe. Vettori stars as the ruthless terrorist Zelik Zak in Michael Winterbottom's political thriller Shoshana, set in Tel Aviv between 1938 and 1940, inspired by real events surrounding the founding of the State of Israel and tensions between British authorities, Arabs, and Zionist factions. The film is released on June 27. He also appears in the Sky series M: Il Figlio del Secolo, directed by Joe Wright, adapted from Antonio Scurati's novel by Stefano Bises and Davide Serino. The series chronicles the rise of fascism from 1919 to 1925, and Vettori plays Dino Grandi, a controversial politician who served as Foreign Minister from 1929 to 1932. The series was presented at the Venice Film Festival. Vettori emphasizes the importance of thorough script analysis, dialect coaching (he learned Calabrian dialect for Briganti), physical preparation, and collaboration with directors. He finds performing his own stunts rewarding, making his work more organic and enjoyable.
