Gianmarco Donaggio's 'Azul no Azul' Screened at MNAC Lisbon

On July 28, 2022, Italian filmmaker Gianmarco Donaggio (born 1991) presented his experimental short film 'Azul no Azul' (English: 'Blue in Blue') at the MNAC – The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Chiado, Lisbon. The film was created in collaboration with painter Nelson Ferreira and was screened during the inauguration of Ferreira's exhibition 'A pintura sublimou o espírito'. 'Azul no Azul' is a cinematic journey through the museum's sculpture garden, exploring the color blue as a liminal space where movement meets stillness, painting meets cinema, and dynamic tension releases dreams. Donaggio, a director, cinematographer, and artist known for atmospheric experimental films, has participated in international festivals including the Pesaro International Film Festival of New Cinema, Asolo Art Film Festival, and Athens Digital Arts Festival. His work focuses on the role of images in society and the evolution of cinematic form, inviting audiences to challenge fundamental assumptions of film expression. The short film will be available until September 15, 2022.
