institutional · 2026-04-27

Since 2000, Gian Luca Farinelli has served as the director of the Cineteca di Bologna and has now been named president of Fondazione Cinema per Roma, taking over from Laura Delli Colli. The announcement was made by Rome's mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, during the 'Libri Come' event, where he commended Farinelli's impact on the film industry. Culture Minister Dario Franceschini also supported the decision, noting Farinelli's achievements at the Cineteca. In 1986, he co-founded the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival and created L'Immagine Ritrovata, Italy's inaugural film restoration school.
