Giada Perissinotto: The Woman Behind Disney's Mickey Mouse Comics

Giada Perissinotto (b. 1973, Rome) is an Italian cartoonist and illustrator who has been collaborating with Disney Italia since 2001 and writing stories for W.I.T.C.H. magazine since 2002. She currently works with Disney America and is involved in creating illustrated books and graphic novels for Mattel and Giunti Editore. For Giunti and Repubblica, she created all the covers for the Scoprire l'arte Disney series and the Disney 2018 calendar. Perissinotto began drawing as a child, inspired by Japanese anime, and pursued her passion professionally after high school. She describes her creative process as starting with a brief subject and sketches, evolving organically. For major publishers like Disney, stories are team efforts with tight deadlines, requiring professionalism over inspiration. Her favorite character is Lum from Rumiko Takahashi's manga, while in the Disney universe she prefers Donald Duck. She works both traditionally and digitally, recently embracing digital tablets. She aspires to work as a character designer and concept artist for video games. Before drawing, she relaxes by petting her cat and drinking coffee. Currently, she is working on an animation project for a major Italian company, comic pages for America tied to an upcoming Tim Burton film, and two authorial projects.
