Giacomo Zaganelli's Artist Guide Maps Abandoned Sites in Tuscany

Giacomo Zaganelli, an artist hailing from Florence and born in 1983, has introduced 'XXI. Guide d’artista' in collaboration with Centro Di, under the curation of Alberto Salvadori. This initiative, envisioned by Ginevra Marchi, aims to produce twenty artist guides across Italy's regions, with releases scheduled every six months. The inaugural volume, titled 'Toscana. La Mappa dell’Abbandono,' highlights approximately forty deserted locations in Tuscany, identified through Zaganelli's research on Google Maps. Each entry features photographs, technical details, and personal handwritten insights. Among the highlighted sites are the Diga di San Piero, the IDIT dehydration facility, and the Coltano radiotelegraph station. Some areas, such as Manifattura Tabacchi Firenze, are currently being revitalized. Zaganelli's exploration focuses on societal context, with additional volumes anticipated from other artists.
