Giacomo Rizzo's Sculptures in Palermo Hospital

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Sicilian sculptor Giacomo Rizzo (born 1977 in Palermo) presents his solo exhibition 'InCorpo' at the Oncology Department of ARNAS Civico Di Cristina Benfratelli in Palermo. Curated by Desirée Maida, the show is part of a new cultural program by Rotary Club Palermo Est through MOMA (Malati Oncologici Mobilitano Arte). Five sculptures made from resin, wax, plaster, wood, stainless steel, plexiglass, polyurethane, and silicone are installed in the hall of the Nuovo Polo Oncologico, exploring the relationship between humans and nature as a metaphor for life. The exhibition is free until March 12, 2023. After the show, the works will be sold, with proceeds used to purchase supplies for patients. Rizzo, who teaches at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Palermo and lives between Palermo, Córdoba, and Lima, previously installed works at Palermo's Falcone e Borsellino Airport (2018) and an underwater marble sculpture at Ustica's marine reserve (2019). His last solo show was at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Lima, Peru.
