Giacomo Balla exhibition opens at Bvlgari boutique in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On April 21, 2021, Bvlgari inaugurated a show dedicated to Futurist painter Giacomo Balla at its historic boutique on Via Condotti 10 in Rome, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Balla's birth and the city's founding (Natale di Roma). The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Galleria d'Arte Futurism&Co., features Balla's works inspired by Roman landscapes, including 'Linea di Velocità + cielo + rumore' displayed in the Salottino Taylor—where Elizabeth Taylor rested during Cleopatra filming—and two pieces dedicated to Villa Borghese: 'Dittico ambientato a Parco dei Daini' and 'Espansione di primavera'. Bvlgari recently funded accessibility improvements at the Largo Argentina sacred area. The show highlights the historical connection between Balla and Bvlgari, both drawn to Rome's colors and beauty. Balla moved to Rome in 1895, while Sotirio Bvlgari opened his first boutique on Via Sistina in 1894 before moving to Via Condotti. In 1961, Balla's daughter Elica created a pastel portrait of Costantino Bvlgari, who co-ran the company with his brother Giorgio after Sotirio's death in 1932.
