Giacometti's Danish Retrospective at SMK Copenhagen
From February to May 2024, SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen hosts a major exhibition of Swiss-Italian artist Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966), featuring his most important works on paper from the museum's collection. Organized in collaboration with the Fondation Giacometti in Paris, the show presents around 90 pieces spanning the 1920s and 1930s—a decisive period that shaped his style—alongside iconic sculptures such as "The Nose" (1947), "The Cage" (1950–51), and "Walking Man" (1960). Lesser-known paintings, graphics, and drawings are also on view. Giacometti's sculptures can additionally be found at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, 35 minutes from the capital, and in the square in front of Holstebro's old town hall in central Jutland.
