cultural-heritage · 2026-05-04

The Getty Foundation's Keeping It Modern initiative has granted €165,000 for a research endeavor focused on Torino Esposizioni, which was designed by Pier Luigi Nervi between 1947 and 1954. This funding is part of the foundation's 2019 budget, which exceeds $1.6 million and has supported 64 conservation projects since 2014. The project is led by the Politecnico di Torino and Professor Rosario Ceravolo, with collaboration from IUAV di Venezia, the University of Miami, and other institutions. The research aims to evaluate the building’s structural integrity and seismic performance for future upkeep. Originally intended for the Salone Internazionale dell'Automobile and later utilized during the 2006 Winter Olympics, Torino Esposizioni is slated for restoration as a library archive within the Parco del Valentino redevelopment. Additional 2019 projects are located in Indiana, Argentina, Uganda, Mozambique, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Spain, and France.
