Getty Foundation Awards $1.7M for Modernist Architecture Conservation

The Getty Foundation, located in Los Angeles, is allocating more than $1.7 million for the preservation of 11 notable 20th-century structures as part of its Keeping It Modern initiative. Since its inception in 2014, this program has backed 54 conservation efforts worldwide. Among the funded projects are the National Schools of Art in Havana, managed by Politecnico di Milano; the Rashid Karami International Fairground in Tripoli, Lebanon, in collaboration with UNESCO Beirut; the Gateway Arch in St. Louis; the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, documented by Cultural Heritage without Borders; and various other sites including the Salk Institute in La Jolla and the Engineering Building at the University of Leicester.
