Germinale: New Contemporary Art Biennial Launches in Monferrato

The Monferrato region of Piedmont, Italy, has introduced a new annual contemporary art festival named Germinale, which will take place from September 6 to 29, 2024. Curated by Francesca Canfora, the festival encompasses 12 municipalities across the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, with its main hub located at Rinco di Montiglio, where the organizing body, Quasi Fondazione Carlo Gloria APS, is based. Featuring site-specific works from 19 established and mid-career artists, including Paolo Albertelli and Mariagrazia Abbaldo, the event also showcases four young resident artists. A highlight of the festival is artist residencies that yield permanent installations, such as a mural by street artist Monograff at Cantina Sette Colli in Moncalvo. Additionally, Germinale offers a live program with workshops, talks, and open studios, supported by Ente Turismo Langhe Monferrato Roero, Regione Piemonte, and Alexala, aiming to enhance the artistic landscape of Basso Monferrato.
