Georges Noël retrospective at CRAC Taranto marks centenary
In Taranto, the CRAC (Centro di Ricerca Arte Contemporanea) of the Fondazione Rocco Spani Onlus is presenting a retrospective to commemorate the centenary of French artist Georges Noël (Béziers, 1924 – Paris, 2010). The exhibition, entitled "Georges Noël, opere 1961 – 2000," is curated by Roberto Peccolo and designed by Giulio De Mitri. It showcases twenty pieces that illustrate Noël's evolution from informal painting, emphasizing the "Palinsesti" and "Paesaggi notturni" series, where "palimpseste" represents layers of memory. Key works include "Palimpseste Azur," "Petit palimpseste fou," and "Palimpseste Vague" from 1961, as well as the blue-hued "Stars and Stripes" and "Astéroïdes" from 2000, highlighting his bond with nature and universal symbols.
