Georges Banu's 'La Porte au cœur de l’intime' Explores the Door as Intimate Threshold

publication · 2026-04-24

In his 2016 book 'La Porte au cœur de l’intime' (Arléa), French essayist Georges Banu examines the door as a symbolic and intimate boundary. This follows his 2009 work 'Des murs… au Mur' (Gründ), which analyzed the political and symbolic ambivalence of walls, including the Berlin Wall, the Western Wall, and border walls. Banu's earlier 1997 publication 'Le Rideau' also dealt with thresholds. The book was reviewed in artpress n°430 (February 2016, p. 87).
