George Condo's Monumental Paris Retrospective at MAM
The Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris (MAM) has launched an extensive retrospective dedicated to American artist George Condo, which will be on display until February 8, 2026. This exhibition showcases 80 paintings, 110 drawings, and 20 sculptures, arranged thematically. Born in Concord, New Hampshire in 1957, Condo is celebrated for his style known as 'Artificial Realism.' The collection features newer pieces from his Diagonal Series, created in hotel suites in Paris. Noteworthy works include 'The Dark Side of Humanity' and a prominent section for drawings. Major themes explore Condo's masks and his inspirations from Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Picasso. This exhibition concludes a trilogy at MAM, following those of Jean-Michel Basquiat (2010) and Keith Haring (2013), curated by Edith Devaney and Jean-Baptiste Delorme.
