other · 2026-05-04

On August 14, 2018, the Polcevera Viaduct (Morandi Bridge) in Genoa collapsed, killing 43 and displacing over 500. The tragedy, attributed to aging reinforced concrete, prompted Artribune to dedicate its 'Distretti' column to the city. The article highlights eight cultural and culinary destinations. Palazzo Ducale, directed by Pietro da Passano for 27 years, will see a new leader in 2019, with comedian Luca Bizzarri as president. Galleria Pinksummer, founded by Francesca Pennone and Antonella Berruti, has been in Palazzo Ducale since 2000 and expanded to Palermo until October 6, 2018. Guidi & Schoen gallery, founded in 2002 by Guido Guidi and Chico Schoen, moved to Piazza dei Garibaldi in 2017, occupying 170 sqm over four floors, and will participate in Arte Fiera in February 2019. Musei di Strada Nuova, a UNESCO World Heritage site, includes Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Doria Tursi, and Palazzo Bianco, housing works from Caravaggio to Van Dyck. Palazzo della Meridiana, a 16th-century building, houses restaurant Meridiana with chef Davide Cannavino. The Cook restaurant in 17th-century Palazzo Branca Doria features frescoes by Bernardo Strozzi and chef Ivano Ricchebono. Douce pastry shop in Piazza Matteotti emphasizes seasonal fruit and natural vanilla. Via Garibaldi 12, a concept store in 16th-century Palazzo Campanella designed by William Sawaya, spans 600 sqm.
