Genoa's U-BOOT Lab launches open call for artist collectives under 35

The Genoa-based cultural association U-BOOT Lab has launched its first open call for artist collectives under 35, part of the project 'Ninety Percent of Everything' curated by Maria Pina Usai. The initiative focuses on the port of Genoa as a nexus of social, geopolitical, and ecological dynamics, inviting collectives working in sound practices, data art, and hybrid artistic forms. Two collectives (or one interdisciplinary group of up to six artists) will be selected by a panel chaired by Ilaria Bonacossa, director of Palazzo Ducale Genova. Selected artists receive €4,000 per collective (€8,000 for a single group) and will undertake a residency from May 15 to 30 at Palazzo Ducale and the CNR-IAS Marine Experimental Station in the port, with navigation on cargo ships of the Grendi Group to collect data on maritime transport's climate impact. Results will be presented in an immersive installation at Palazzo Ducale from September. The deadline for applications is April 2. U-BOOT Lab, founded in 2008 by architects and expanded to include contemporary art and anthropology professionals, has previously organized projects like Zones Portuaires and Tunèa, which was presented at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
