Genoa's Rolli Days Spring 2023 Focuses on the Sea

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

The spring edition of Genoa's Rolli Days, from April 28 to May 1, 2023, will open over 30 historic palaces and suburban villas to the public, with the sea as its central theme. The event precedes the Ocean Race finale in Genoa in June. For the first time, all 12 palaces on Strada Nuova will be accessible. Highlights include the Villa Lomellini Rostan in Pegli, reachable via the Navebus water service, and the Palazzo dell'Università in Via Balbi, where recent restorations have revealed new discoveries. The Rolli Days, held twice yearly, offer free guided tours of the 42 UNESCO-listed Palazzi dei Rolli, which were once luxury lodgings for visiting dignitaries during Genoa's golden age. The spring edition also features palaces in Sampierdarena, Cornigliano, Pegli, and Voltri. The sea theme extends to other 2023 cultural programming, including the Santa Sangre street art festival (June 24-25) and Pixel at an Exhibition (May 24-28), an NFT showcase curated by Maurizio Gregorini, coinciding with Genova BeDesign Week. The NFT event will display works on LED screens in historic squares and at the MAIIIM multimedia art center.
