Genoa's Rolli Days 2022 Feature Original Rubens Portrait
The autumn edition of Genoa's Rolli Days, from October 14 to 16, 2022, will highlight the exceptional display of Peter Paul Rubens' original painting 'Portrait of Maria Doria Pavese' at Palazzo Angelo Giovanni Spinola. This event coincides with the 400th anniversary of Rubens' book 'Palazzi di Genova' and the major exhibition 'Rubens a Genova' at Palazzo Ducale, where a copy of the painting is shown. For the first time, the piano nobile of 11 of the 12 palaces on Via Garibaldi will be open, along with other historic buildings. A record 86 young cultural professionals will serve as guides. The event also includes the opening of the Church of the Gesù, which houses two Rubens canvases, and Palazzo Spinola di Pellicceria, featuring Rubens' 'Portrait of Gio Carlo Doria a cavallo' and Antonello da Messina's 'Ecce Homo'. Additionally, a dedicated exhibition on 19th-century actress Adelaide Ristori will be held at Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino, showcasing her stage costumes. The Rolli Days are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Palazzi dei Rolli, inscribed in July 2006.
