Genoa's Etra: A New Restaurant-Gallery Merges Fine Dining and Contemporary Art

In Genoa, a new hybrid space called Etra opens at Palazzo Doria-De Fornari in Piazza de Ferrari, combining a fine dining restaurant with an art gallery. The project is spearheaded by BF Gallery, founded by Alessandro Ferrada and Iacopo Briano, who previously ran the Wunderkammer-inspired Stupendo in Genoa and a Brussels venue that sold dinosaur skeletons. Etra's restaurant is helmed by chef Davide Cannavino, known for his creative approach. The space features lighting by ViaBizzuno, curtains by Velaria designed by architect Marco Ciarlo, parquet by MDV, and Kartell furnishings. Concurrently, from November 9 to December 18, 2023, the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato hosts an exhibition of works by Lorenzo Puglisi, curated by Willy Montini. Puglisi's Crocifissione and Grande Sacrificio are displayed alongside Baroque masterpieces by Bernardo Strozzi, Domenico Piola, Domenico Fiasella, and others. The exhibition continues at Etra, marking the venue's debut. Puglisi, born in Biella in 1971, previously exhibited his Grande Sacrificio next to Leonardo's Last Supper in 2019 and showed at Florence's Davanti a Michelangelo in 2021.
