Genoa Hosts Major Retrospective for Mimmo Rotella
In remembrance of Mimmo Rotella, who passed away twenty years ago (Catanzaro, 1918 – Milan, 2006), Genoa is hosting a retrospective named "Mimmo Rotella. 1945 – 2005." This exhibition will be held at Palazzo Ducale from April 24 to September 13. Curated by Alberto Fiz in collaboration with the Fondazione Mimmo Rotella, it showcases over one hundred artworks divided into five sections, emphasizing Rotella's décollage method. Notable pieces include "Naturalistico" (1953), "La tigre" (1962), "Il punto e mezzo" (1963), "Tenera è la notte" (1962), and works featuring Marilyn Monroe. The exhibition also explores his later creations and innovative techniques. The Fondazione, founded in 2000, oversees the archive, and the Casa della Memoria Mimmo Rotella was inaugurated on March 18, 2005.
