Genius Loci Festival Returns to Rome for Third Edition
The third edition of Genius Loci, a festival opening the doors of scientific research centers to the public, runs until August 2 in Rome. Winner of the "Eureka!Roma" public notice and part of Romarama, the summer 2020 program promoted by Roma Capitale, the festival is produced by cultural association Open City Roma and curated by Laura Calderoni. Launched in 2018, it has now become a triennial event spanning 2020-2022. The festival offers 13 guided tours, 3 online platform visits, 3 workshops, 1 web series, plus performances and exhibitions, all free. Venues include the Italian Space Agency headquarters, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the CNR, the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases, the Enrico Fermi Historical Museum of Physics and Study and Research Center (CREF), and the Botanical Garden of Tor Vergata University. Calderoni states the festival aims to bring people closer to science through a multidisciplinary approach combining architecture, art, history, theater, photography, and new multimedia languages.
