Genevieve Leong's Solo Exhibition 'Sitting on the fence' at Starch, Singapore

Genevieve Leong's solo exhibition 'Sitting on the fence' at Starch in Singapore runs from 31 May to 29 June 2025. The show features delicate, pastel-toned sculptures, installations, and writings that explore ambivalence and indeterminacy. Works include assemblages combining found objects with original sculptures, such as the 'Surfaces of rest' series (2024–25) made from repurposed subway hand straps holding colorful polymer forms. 'Comfort is confusing' (2025) contrasts geometric frames with sinuous shapes, while 'The sensation of floating' (2025) is a large installation with makeshift rafts drifting in a shallow pool. Leong also incorporates text works, including word pairings printed on walls, 'Dilemma Paintings' (2025) with carved letters, and chapbooks like 'a pocket dictionary of hesitation'.
