Geneva's Urbanism Fortnight Explores Belgian Architecture
The Quinzaine de l'urbanisme 2016 in Geneva showcases urban development and architecture through exhibitions, conferences, and workshops. Curator Audrey Contesse presents 'Entrer', a multisensory exhibition featuring five architectural projects from Wallonia, Belgium. The show includes photographs, sound recordings, and objects to convey the atmosphere of each site. Projects include Baukunst's Infrastructure polyvalente in Spa, VERS.A's garden pavilion, msa + ney & partners' Place de la Cage aux Ours in Brussels, L'Escaut and atelier Gigogne's Artothèque de Mons, and Baumans-Deffets' conversion of a former dairy in Dison. The event also highlights Zurich's cooperative housing model through the 'Import Zurich' exhibition. Geneva's urban planning, driven by State Councillor Antonio Hodgers, aims to create diverse, energy-efficient neighborhoods for thousands of workers.
