Gen Z artists making millions from NFTs outside traditional galleries

Generation Z artists, born between 1995 and 2010, are leveraging NFT platforms like OpenSea, SuperRare, and Nifty Gateway to bypass traditional galleries and achieve significant earnings. Miss Teen Crypto (Randi Hipper), an 18-year-old influencer, promotes NFTs as a way for youth to monetize digital art. The most notable case is FEWOCiOUS (Victor Langlois), a transgender artist who earned about $18 million since entering the NFT market in 2020. Christie's presented his series "Hello, I'm Victor (FEWOCiOUS) and This Is My Life," which caused a site crash due to buyer demand. In June 2021, Nifty Gateway hosted Nifty Next Generation, featuring 17-year-old jstngraphics (Justin Bodnar) from Washington and 18-year-old Solace from Soledad, California. The youngest millionaire is 13-year-old Nyla Hayes, whose NFT creations blend women with brontosauruses, depicting figures like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Michelle Obama, and Lucille Ball. These artists operate outside gallery circuits, using social media and blockchain technology to sell unique digital assets.
