Gemini app introduces personalized AI image generation using Google Photos and Nano Banana 2

Google's Gemini app has launched a new personalized image creation feature that automatically uses users' Google Photos libraries and personal preferences to generate custom images without requiring detailed prompts. The feature leverages Personal Intelligence technology integrated with Nano Banana 2 to understand user context from connected Google apps. Users can request images featuring themselves or loved ones by connecting their Google Photos, where existing labels for people and pets provide necessary context. The system allows for style experimentation including claymation, watercolors, charcoal sketches, and oil paintings. Privacy protections ensure Gemini doesn't train models on private photo libraries, using only limited prompt-response data for functionality improvements. Users maintain creative control through refinement options, reference photo swapping, and source attribution visibility. This update is currently rolling out to U.S. subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans, with planned expansion to Gemini in Chrome desktops and additional users soon. The feature aims to reduce time spent on prompting while enabling more personalized creative expression.
