Geely Group's Shanghai Auto Show 2019: Lotus Type 130 and PREFACE Concept Unveiled

other · 2026-04-26

ABDZ founder François visited China for the Shanghai Auto Show 2019, invited by Geely/Lynk & Co. The three-day journey included tours of Geely's R&D centre in Hangzhou Bay, test drives of multiple vehicles, and presentations at the auto show. Geely, established in 1986 and entering the car industry in 1997, is now China's third-largest car company. Its global brands include Lotus, Lynk & Co, PROTON, and Volvo. At the show, Lotus introduced the Type 130, the world's first all-electric British hypercar, described by CEO Phil Popham as the most dynamically accomplished Lotus in history. Geely unveiled the PREFACE Concept sedan, its first high-end sporty sedan, designed under the Expanding Cosmos design language at Geely Design Shanghai. Lynk & Co reported that 110,000 users contributed to the Lynk & Co 01 update, which includes ten new features. The brand also achieved its first FIA World Cup victory in motorsport at Marrakech. The trip concluded with a visit to Geely Design Studio, where a live clay prototype of the PREFACE was seen.
