Gea Casolaro wins public art commission for Casale Monferrato's Parco Eternot
Gea Casolaro has been selected to create a monumental public artwork for the Parco Eternot in Casale Monferrato, a park built on the site of the former Eternit asbestos factory. The project is part of the city's broader effort to reclaim and transform an area marked by environmental disaster. The call for entries was launched by the municipality, with the work to be inaugurated in September 2016, produced in collaboration with Afeva (Association of Family Members and Victims of Asbestos). Other finalists included Luca Vitone, Fare Ala, Luigi Coppola, Nico Agiuli, and Fabrizio Bellomo. Meanwhile, in Taranto, a similar initiative called Open Taranto, promoted by Invitalia, invites proposals for the redevelopment of the city devastated by Ilva's pollution, with prizes totaling €115,000 and a deadline of July 20.
