Gea Casolaro's Socially Engaged Art at The Gallery Apart, Rome

Gea Casolaro (Rome, 1965) presents a new body of work at The Gallery Apart in Rome, focusing on concrete engagement. The exhibition stems from a series of meetings in the gallery that explored central issues, resulting in multiple videos. Concurrently, Casolaro conducted group work with young foreigners newly arrived in Italy to produce a regenerative fuel for society. The videos and collective art led to the creation of object-sculptures: hoodies, telescopes, and mirrors integrated into installations. These works communicate a distorted vision of reality, denouncing media bombardment and the chaos of images. The MAXXI Museum has also dedicated a focus to Casolaro's videos titled "La poesia dell’impegno" (The Poetry of Commitment). Society, current events, and history dialogue through experiences and people, analyzing urban landscapes and their inhabitants in a blend of art and social commitment.
