Gardentopia: 30 community gardens bloom across Basilicata

Thirty gardens are set to come to life across Basilicata, involving artists and landscape architects collaborating with local communities under the curatorship of Pelin Tan. The first Gardentopia Day took place on March 21, coinciding with the inauguration of a new community garden in Matera at Casino Padula, home to the Open Design School. Students from various institutes participated in a performance by Luigi Coppola, planting the first hundred trees destined for public gardens in the region. The next event is the Gardentopia Tour on June 16, a route through Basilicata's community gardens featuring performances, talks, music, shows, and a final celebration. The initiative is part of Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture program.
