Garden Trio: Deacon, Cecchini, Franzella at RizzutoGallery Palermo

RizzutoGallery in Palermo presents 'Garden', a three-person exhibition featuring Richard Deacon, Loris Cecchini, and Daniele Franzella, each occupying a separate room. The show explores the concept of the garden as an intellectual, aesthetic, and perceptual subject rather than a literal depiction. Deacon (born 1949, Bangor, UK; lives in London), a Turner Prize winner (1987), presents a large wooden floor sculpture and a series of graphic works on paper, emphasizing line, geometry, and tactile materiality. Franzella (born 1978, Palermo) offers a monumental digital collage and two ceramic sculptures referencing Raymond Roussel's novel 'Locus Solus', blending found imagery with surreal, posthuman themes. Cecchini (born 1969, Milan) contributes 'Airborne', a modular stainless steel sculpture that expands infinitely, and 'Aeolian Landforms', a digitally manipulated photograph of a desert transformed into a volumetric yellow-ocher relief. A fourth room features additional micro-works, video contributions, and archival materials from Fondazione Radice Pura and the Ground Action collective (Matteo D'Ambros, Sergio Sanna, Roberto Zancan). A fanzine with a critical essay by Daniela Bigi discusses Sicilian gardens, Gilles Clément, Libereso Guglielmi, and dancer Lawrence Halprin. The exhibition runs at RizzutoGallery in Palermo.
