Garden Route Italia: Digital Portal Launches to Showcase Italy's Finest Gardens

digital · 2026-04-27

Garden Route Italia, a digital portal cataloging over 200 Italian gardens and 30 itineraries, has been launched by APGI – Associazione Parchi e Giardini d'Italia in collaboration with Ales S.p.A. and with support from MiBACT. The platform aims to become the official guide to Italy's gardens, promoting open-air tourism amid pandemic restrictions. Users can filter by region (North East, North West, Center, South, and Islands) or explore thematic itineraries such as "Rome and Surroundings between Popes and Cardinals," "Twentieth-Century Gardens," "Gardens of Citrus and Mediterraneanity," "Landscape Gardens and Botanical Collections," "The Garden in the Mirror: The Lake Landscape," and "The Feminine Garden" featuring creations by women and botanists. Additional themes include Art, Nature, and Landscape. The portal is scheduled for completion by spring 2021, when an English version will be added to attract international tourists. Undersecretary for Tourism Lorenza Bonaccorsi stated the goal is for Italian gardens to become a global reference for beauty and art, and for the public to reclaim this unique heritage post-pandemic.
