Garance & Marion Opens Venice Gallery Dedicated to Graphic Arts

A new gallery dedicated to graphic arts has opened in Venice. Garance & Marion, founded by Garance Laporte and Marion Houssin, inaugurated its permanent space on April 1 in the Cannaregio district with the exhibition "L'apertura." The gallery, born from a pandemic-era idea, offers limited-edition works on paper—watercolors, gouaches, digital illustrations, ink, pastels, and markers—in editions of 20 to 100, serigraphed or pigment-printed by regional artisans from Venice, Treviso, and Castelfranco. Each piece is numbered, signed, and sold with custom frames made by a family of artisans in Marcon, Metropolitan City of Venice. The founders, French-born but Venetian by adoption, aim to support emerging international graphic artists and maintain a strong connection to local craftsmanship. The gallery's name evokes both the opening and Venice's historical role as a commercial port between East and West, characterized by artistic and architectural diversity. The proximity to Venice influences the project, from themes in the works to the choice of Birrificio Artigianale Veneziano beer for the opening. Laporte and Houssin previously worked in museum and communication fields.
