Ganfeng Lithium reports quarterly profit surge amid EV and energy storage battery demand

Ganfeng Lithium, the world's leading lithium producer based in China's Jiangxi province, announced a dramatic financial turnaround with estimated profits of 1.6 to 2.1 billion yuan for the first quarter ending March. This represents a significant recovery from a 360 million yuan net loss during the same period last year. The company attributes this performance to rising lithium prices driven by increased orders, particularly from electric vehicle and energy storage system battery manufacturers. President Wang Xiaoshen and other executives highlighted at a March 31 investor conference that global decarbonization efforts have created a strong, sustainable growth trajectory for the company. Analysts suggest the global energy shock stemming from Middle East conflicts could further accelerate Ganfeng's growth this year as consumers shift from petrol vehicles to EVs amid concerns about fuel costs. Ivan Li, a researcher at Loyal Wealth Management in Shanghai, noted that major industry players like Ganfeng benefit most from sudden demand surges, with the company's expanded manufacturing capacity positioning it to secure more lithium product orders. Ganfeng is dual-listed on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen stock exchanges.
