GAMeC Bergamo Unveils 2018 Program Under New Director Lorenzo Giusti

institutional · 2026-05-04

GAMeC Bergamo has announced a comprehensive 2018 program under new director Lorenzo Giusti, who took over from Giacinto di Pietrantonio in February 2018. The program emphasizes experimentation, multidisciplinarity, and the museum's collection. A major novelty is the use of the Sala delle Capriate in Palazzo della Ragione as an external venue, starting with the first Italian solo show of American sculptor Gary Kuehn, curated by Giusti. The gallery will remain open in August. The Spazio Zero will host 'Enchanted Bodies / Fetish for Freedom,' curated by Bernardo Mosqueira, winner of the ninth Lorenzo Bonaldi Prize for Art, featuring 16 international artists on themes of exile and migration. Two winning projects from the 'Curatorial Schools' section will be presented: 'Siate Misteriosi' by Luca Gennati and 'Linee di forza + varie sensazioni' by Martina Sabbadini. In autumn, the exhibition 'Black Hole. Arte e matericità tra informe e invisibile' will open, curated by Giusti and Sara Fumagalli. The 'Collezione Impermanente' platform, curated by Valentina Gervasoni and Fabrizia Previtali, will launch with Romanian artist Dan Perjovschi creating a provocative advertising campaign. A public program in collaboration with Accademia di Belle Arti G. Carrara will feature artist talks. A new logo by Studio Temp has been introduced.
